Keysight Technologies Collaborates with Bluetest on NarrowBand-Internet of Things Over-the-Air Test Solution
Gothenburg, Sweden – September 2017 Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today announced the collaboration with Bluetest on the successful creation of an narrowband - internet of things (NB-IoT) over-the-air (OTA) solution for use in Bluetest Reverberation Test Systems. The solution, used by one of Japan’s top operator customers, demonstrates the market leading position of both companies in NB-IoT test.
“We are excited to announce this collaboration with Bluetest,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Wireless Devices and Operators Segment, “the work reinforces our leadership position for Cloud IoT (CIoT) device workflow testing from the early stages of R&D and conformance into antennae OTA solutions.”
“We’re very satisfied with the close cooperation from Keysight that enabled us to meet the market demands on early creation and support for testing of NB-IoT devices,” said Klas Arvidsson, product manager for Bluetest’s OTA solutions. “This delivered a powerful test solution for evaluation of IoT device performance, such as transmitted output power and receiver sensitivity, which is important when striving for good connectivity, particularly in challenging link budget conditions.”
NB-IoT technology uses existing cellular network infrastructure to deliver excellent coverage and reliable connectivity. This approach is becoming adopted by major worldwide operators. The OTA test is critical for operators to qualify the interoperability and compliance of their NB-IoT devices. This is particularly important when a third-party enclosure is used with the device since the antenna coverage effects could be limited.
Bluetest’s reverberation test systems are especially well suited for testing of IoT devices with their capability of measuring larger test objects since there is no traditional test zone limitation in the chamber.
Recent enhancements to the UXM wireless test set support the very latest NB-IoT specification, which covers RF measurement, power consumption and end-to-end data test making—it an ideal choice for a wide range of wireless user equipment, from IoT devices to smartphones.
