Antenna Efficiency

Antenna efficiency goes under the category of Bluetest passive measurements in the reverberation chamber. An important parameter for all different types of antennas is radiation efficiency and is a basic parameter for all antenna designs. In fact, it is the dominating factor for antenna performance in multipath environments.

The antenna efficiency measurement can be described as the measurement of the loss of the antenna itself. The total radiation efficiency is defined as the radiated power from an antenna structure divided by the total available power at the antenna port.

A radiation efficiency is normally covered in a single minute, even if a wide range of frequencies is covered. Common for the passive antenna types of measurement are the use of a vector network analyzer together with the reverberation chamber. This measurement is controlled by the Bluetest Flow Platform.
