Complex system testing in vehicles
Bluetest reverberation chambers are well suited for wireless over-the-air (OTA) measurements of non-standard device form factors. Take a wireless device embedded in a vehicle dashboard: the surrounding plastics, metals, and electronic components all interact with the antenna system, affecting transmission, reception, and data throughput performance. Design changes to minimize these effects can be tested rapidly, and the chamber's inherent multipath environment provides strong correlation with real in-car conditions.
External "shark fin" antenna efficiency, MIMO performance, and the impact of radome materials and surface coatings can be assessed by placing the antenna on a ground plane that emulates a car roof. The entire ground plane and antenna can be placed in the chamber's generous test volume and each measurement takes less than one minute, allowing engineers to evaluate a greater number of design alternatives in less time.
